Business leaders eye deeper manufacturing links
Members of a high-profile delegation of foreign diplomats and business heavyweights from Hong Kong said on Sunday they are impressed by China's rapid developments in the manufacturing of high-end products and green vehicles, and hope to step up cooperation with the Chinese mainland in these fields.
The delegation, led by Liu Guangyuan, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is on a weeklong visit to Henan and Shaanxi provinces to tap business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative, and strengthen cultural ties.
The visitors spent the second day of their first stop—Henan's capital, Zhengzhou—visiting a host of leading enterprises, including a bus factory of Yutong Bus, a leading manufacturer of new-energy buses and coaches; a factory of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group; and BAA (China) Training Center—a modern simulator aviation training center.
As a major producer of electric vehicles on the mainland, Yutong's vehicles are sold in more than 40 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Kazakhstan. The group says it commands about 10 percent of the global market share in this sector, and Yutong was the best-selling pure electric vehicle brand in Europe in 2022, according to European consulting firm Chatrou CME Solutions.
Korawat WUTTIWONG, Consul General of the Thai Consulate General in Hong Kong, said this visit to Henan was very exciting. Yutong's technological development is impressive; Henan has ample business opportunities and a promising future.
