Henan Launches Third Bilingual Series of "Chinese Civilization · Stories from Henan"

第三批“中华源·河南故事”中外文系列丛书正式发布

 

On July 6, the Information Office of Henan Provincial People's Government held a news briefing to introduce the third bilingual Series of "Chinese Civilization · Stories from Henan" to the public and answer questions from journalists.

Organized by the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, the third batch of 10 volumes has been published and officially released today, including: "The Huaihe River Culture," "Eco-system Protection of the Yellow River Basin," "Bronze Treasures," "Calligraphy," "Ceramics," "Acrobatics," "Allusions of the Central Plains," "Folklore of the Central Plains," "Myths of the Central Plains" and "Grain of the Central Plains."

7月6日，省政府新闻办召开“第三批‘中华源·河南故事’中外文系列丛书”新闻发布会，记者从会上获悉，第三批丛书10个分卷《淮河文化》《黄河流域生态保护》《青铜器》《书法》《陶瓷》《杂技》《中原典故》《中原民俗》《中原神话》《中原粮谷》正式对外发布。

The bilingual Series "Chinese Civilization · Stories from Henan" is a highlight of the Project "Translating Henan," which was launched in the first half of 2018. By 2021, 20 volumes have been published, such as "Shaolin Kungfu," "Taijiquan," "A Model Official -- Jiao Yulu," and "Traditional Chinese Medicine," etc. The third Series aims to introduce the profound cultural heritage of Chinese modernization to the world by carrying forward the fine culture of Central Plains, presenting the development trajectory of Chinese civilization, and fully harnessing the relevance of the Yellow River culture to the present times.

“中华源·河南故事”中外文系列丛书是河南省委外办首创实施的“翻译河南”工程的重要内容之一，截至2021年，已发行《少林功夫》《太极拳》《焦裕禄》《中医》等20个分卷。第三批次通过大力弘扬中原文化，展示华夏民族文明发展轨迹，深挖黄河文化的时代价值，向世界介绍中国式现代化的文明根脉和文化底蕴。

It is worth noting that "Grain of the Central Plains" is the first bilingual book to introduce the grain culture of the Central Plains. It presents the development of China's economy and society over thousands of years by introducing the progress of China's grain industry.

值得注意的是，第三批次推出的《中原粮谷》，是首部使用中英双语介绍中原地区粮食文化的书籍。该书通过介绍中国粮食业的发展，具体形象地展示了中国经济社会几千年的发展轨迹。

The "Chinese Civilization • Stories from Henan" Series is also the first bilingual work to introduce fine traditional Chinese culture planned by a provincial government. Moreover, it has been listed in the Chinese Thinking and Culture Multicultural Terminology Database by China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. From April 27 to May 8 this year, these volumes were exhibited at the Foire de Paris in France, receiving public attention.

据介绍，“中华源•河南故事”是国内第一套由省级政府层面策划、系统对外译介中华优秀文化的中外文系列丛书，被中国外文局列入“中国思想文化术语多语种对外翻译标准化建设”重要项目成果。今年4月27日至5月8日，丛书在法国巴黎国际博览会上展出，引起强烈反响。
