24 Solar Terms in Oracle Bone Script: Beginning of Autumn
The Beginning of Autumn, or "Liqiu," is the 13th solar term of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar, usually arriving between August 7th and 9th each year. This solar term marks the transition from summer to autumn and heralds the coming of the harvest season.
Liqiu also symbolizes the changes in nature. The weather begins to cool down gradually, and the atmosphere of autumn starts to emerge. People can feel the coolness brought by the autumn breeze and see the leaves starting to turn yellow.
In China, there are many interesting customs associated with Liqiu. One common tradition is "Tieqiu Biao", which involves eating nutritious foods to recover from the weight loss experienced during the hot summer period. In some regions, people hold sacrificial ceremonies to pray for good weather and bountiful harvests.
