2025 Chinese New Year Festival & Market Day Celebrates a Grand Success in Auckland
On January 25, the 2025 Chinese New Year Festival & Market Day, jointly organized by the Auckland Chinese Community Center (ACCC) and Channel 33 New Zealand Chinese Television, was held at the Auckland Showgrounds. The event was graced by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Wang Xiaolong, and several prominent guests from the political and business communities of both nations.
In his speech, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon commended the contributions of the Chinese community to New Zealand's development. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for their dedication and extended warm New Year wishes for the Year of the Snake.
Chinese Ambassador Wang Xiaolong emphasized the importance of maintaining close cooperation between China and New Zealand, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations in the coming year and write a new chapter in the friendship between the two nations.
The event attracted a large crowd and was filled with festive energy. Over 200 stalls offered a diverse array of goods, including food, dried products, festive items, and cultural and artistic displays, catering to the varied interests of attendees. Indoor and outdoor activities delighted visitors, with lively outdoor lion dance performances symbolizing good fortune and harmony, and indoor cultural shows combining traditional and modern elements, showcasing the unique charm of Chinese culture.
Prime Minister Luxon, Ambassador Wang, and Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie, etc. participated in the ceremonial "dotting of the lion's eyes," adding to the festive atmosphere.
As a co-organizer, Channel 33 Chinese Television hosted the opening ceremony, organized a fan meet-and-greet, and collaborated with businesses to present exquisite gifts to attendees. The event not only brought together friends from all walks of life to celebrate this cherished festival but also highlighted the unity and warmth of the Chinese community, fostering deeper friendship and understanding between the peoples of China and New Zealand.
