At the rehearsal site of the Harbin International Exhibition Center, 72 students from the Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School are undergoing final rehearsals for the opening ceremony. They will perform in multiple segments, including acting as the mascots Bingbing and Nini, showcasing the unique charm of combining Chinese martial arts with winter sports culture.

This Asian Winter Games mark China's third time hosting the event and the second time it is being held in Harbin. The opening ceremony, themed "Dream of Winter, Love among Asia", is divided into three parts. Students from the Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School will deliver spectacular performances which reflect the spirit and confidence of Chinese people in the new era.
The mascots Binbin and Nini, the highlights of the opening ceremony, are performed by the Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School students.
Last October, the Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School received the invitation to participate in the opening ceremony. In early November, the director team visited the school, and after several rounds of rigorous screening, 72 outstanding students were selected. Upon arriving in Harbin on November 23rd, they experienced an increase in intensity and training standards. Despite the cold weather and demanding training tasks, the students did not back down from the challenge. They continued their training even during the Chinese New Year, determined to deliver a memorable performance at the opening ceremony.

He Guangwei, a student from Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School, shared, "We're proud and excited to be part of the opening ceremony. It's both an honor and a responsibility. We'll give our best to showcase the unique style of Chinese martial arts and bring glory to our country." The Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School, with extensive experience in large-scale event performances, has previously participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, and Asian Games. Recently, they also sent 656 students to perform at the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
At the 9th Asian Winter Games opening ceremony, the students from Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School will play the roles of mascots Bingbing and Nini, representing ice and snow sports respectively. Both mascots have a cute image, blending Harbin's ice and snow culture with its folk traditions. The students, dressed as the mascots, need to synchronize their movements with other performers, which is a significant challenge. Although the indoor temperature is high, they are committed to completing each movement with precision.
Many of the students have previously performed at the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022. Now, at the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin, they aim to highlight the energy and allure of winter sports while promoting the spirit of martial arts through their impressive performance.
